Academic Planning Unit is an integral arm of the Office of the Rector and it is headed by a Head, who reports directly to the Rector. The Unit was established in September 2017 and saddled with the responsibility to co-ordinate and restructure academic activities of the Polytechnic in compliance with NBTE standards. APU was also established to address issues of data collection and analysis, as well as drawing useful inference for management decisions.
PROFILE OF THE HEAD OF DIRECTORATE OF ACADEMIC PLANNING Mr. Ademuyiwa Justus ADENIRAN Mr. Ademuyiwa Justus Adeniran was born to the family of late Oba Timothew Adelusi Ademuyiwa (Onikun’s Palace Ikun-Akoko, Ondo State) and late Queen Florence Adeyi Ademuyiwa (Nee Alademehin) on November 21, 1977. He attended Holy Trinity Primary School, Ikun-Akoko from 1980 to 1986 and later attended Ajagbokun High School, Ikun – Akoko for his Secondary School Education from 1986 to 1992. He proceeded to The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti, for his ND and HND in Statistics and graduated in 2001. His quest for educational pursuit led him to the Federal University of Technology, Akure for his Post Graduate Diploma in Statistics. He graduated from FUTA with Distinction in 2010 and later went to University of Ilorin, Ilorin, Kwara State for his Masters of Science and graduated in 2014. He is a member of Nigerian Statistical Association (NSA), Nigerian Statistical Society (NSS) and Professional Statisticians Society of Nigeria (PSSN) Mr Ademuyiwa J. A. commenced his teaching profession in 2002 when he served as the Mathematics teacher at Oluwalose Grammar School, Ipoti-Ekiti where he was posted to during his National Youth Service. He later worked as Instructor at Right-Time Service Limited in Lagos. With passion for teaching, he left Right-Service Limited in 2004 and joined Apostolic Faith Secondary School (AFSS), Anthony, Lagos State in 2004 as Mathematics teacher. This was where he was working till he got employed by the Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti in 2005 as Technologist II and rose through the ranks till he became Principal Technologist in 2015. He transferred his services from The Federal Polytechnic, Ado-Ekiti to The Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State in December, 2015. He is currently a Senior Lecturer and Ag. Head, Directorate of Academic Planning, Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State. A pioneer Head of Department, Statistics between February 2016 - June 2020. He has served as a Chairman and Member in various committees with remarkable success. He has a number of publications to his credit and he has attended several Conferences and Workshops in and outside the Country. He is a team player and is result oriented. He loves listening to music, travelling, and creative thinking.
BRIEF HISTORY OF ACADEMIC PLANNING UNIT APU IN NIGERIA The Academic Planning Unit was established in the early 1980s by National University Commission (NUC) in the Nigeria University System for the sole purpose of planning, coordinating and managing academic programmes and activities.

Committee on Utilisation of Tetfund Intervention Funds through the Rector got approval for the following intervention; - Highlighted below is the summary breakdown on the number of applicants that have benefitted under TETFund Intervention Lines; Conference / Workshop, Institution Based Research (IBR), Academic Staff Training & Development (AST&D).
The aim of the National Diploma programme in the Department is to produce assistant statisticians, who are capable of collecting data, analyzing and making inference under supervision. The various objectives include;
- producing diplomats who can understand the application of statistics and statistical methods,
- producing diplomats who can understand the use of computers for various statistical purposes,
- producing diplomats who have acquired a good knowledge of basic statistics and statistical methods,
- to set out statistical projects under supervision.
Applicant must possess at least five credit passes in SSCE/NECO/NABTEB O’level. The five (5) subjects must include English Language, Mathematics, one basic science (Biology/Agricultural science, Animal Husbandry/Health Science) and any two (2) of the following subjects: Statistics, Further Mathematics, Geography, Chemistry, Physics, Economics or five (5) credit passes in relevant subjects as stated in (i) above obtained in the final examination of the Polytechnic’s Preliminary ND Programme.
In addition, candidates seeking Direct Entry admission into the full-time programme must sit for the Universities and Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) for the admission year and obtain the minimum pass-mark approved by the Academic Board for the year. The UTME subjects are English Language, Mathematics, and two (2) subjects from the subjects listed in (i) above.
The programme comprises of four (4) semester of classroom activities (teaching and practical) and four (4) months of supervised Students’ Industrial Work Experience Scheme (SIWES). A semester is made up of seventeen (17) weeks of academic activities, i. e. fifteen (15) weeks of intensive teaching and practical, tests and quizzes, and two (2) weeks for examination.
