PROFILE OF THE DEPUTY RECTOR
Dr. Sunday Osinkolu Ajeigbe is an esteemed academic and researcher who has made significant contributions in both industry and academia. Born on October 1st, 1967, in Ayede Ekiti, Ekiti State, Dr. Ajeigbe possesses a diverse background and a wealth of experience that has shaped his career. Dr. Ajeigbe’s educational journey began with his Primary and Secondary education at Saint Peter’s Primary and Ayede Grammar School respectively, both in Ayede Ekiti. He completed his secondary education in 1987. He then pursued a B. Tech. (Hons) degree in Industrial Chemistry at The Federal University of Technology, Akure, Ondo State, graduating in 1992. Eager to expand his knowledge, he later obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the same institution in 2003. Dr. Ajeigbe further enhanced his academic credentials by earning a M.Sc. degree in Industrial Chemistry from the prestigious University of Ibadan, Oyo State, in 2003. His quest for knowledge culminated in his remarkable achievement of a PhD in Chemistry with a focus on Corrosion Inhibition, Process Optimization, and Chemometrics from the renowned Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Skudai, Malaysia, in 2017.
Dr. Ajeigbe’s professional journey commenced with early work experiences in various reputable organizations. He served as an Assistant Quality Control Officer at National Salt Company of Nigeria PLC, Ota, from 1992 to 1993, and as a Product Development Officer at Rockwool Nigeria Limited, Ota, from 1994 to 1997. During this period, he also held positions as a Production Shift Officer and Quality Control Officer at Coop-Cocoa Processing Industries, Akure, Ondo State, from 1997 to 1999.
In December 1999, Dr. Ajeigbe joined the Federal Polytechnic Bida, Niger State, as a Lecturer II and steadily progressed to the rank of Chief Lecturer in January 2016. Throughout his tenure at the polytechnic, he showcased his dedication and expertise by serving in various academic and administrative capacities. Notably, he excelled as the Head of Chemistry Unit, Head of Department, Coordinator of Accreditation Programs, Academic Board Member, and Chairman of the Program Review Committee, among others. His commitment to knowledge dissemination extended beyond the polytechnic as he lectured as a Senior Lecturer at the Federal University of Technology, Minna/Federal Polytechnic, Bida Affiliated Degree Program from 2019 to 2022.
Dr. Ajeigbe is an eminent member of the Chemical Society of Nigeria (CSN) and the American Chemical Society (ACS). He is a Fellow of Institute of Management Consultants (FIMC) of Nigeria and has also earned the status of Certified Management Consultant (CMC) in accordance with the International Council of Management Consulting Institutes (ICMCI). His research prowess is evident through his impressive portfolio of publications in renowned journals and conferences, both nationally and internationally. He has made valuable contributions as a Lead Paper Presenter in a National Conference, as an Invited Reviewer for Journals both locally and internationally and as a Member and Chairman of National Organizing Committees of Conferences.
In January 2023, Dr. Ajeigbe transferred his service to the Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, Ondo State, assuming the role of Chief Lecturer in the Science Laboratory Technology Department. Since joining the polytechnic, he has been actively involved in various committees, including his membership of the Academic Board, Academic Board Representative in the Selection Board, Business Committee of the Academic Board, Representative of the Dean of the School of Applied Sciences, and Member of the Polytechnic Management Committee. Dr. Ajeigbe was the pioneer Director of the Directorate of Research, Development, and Innovation in the polytechnic to spearhead initiatives aimed at promoting research excellence, fostering innovation, and bridging the gap between academia and industry.
In July 2023, Dr. Ajeigbe was saddled with further responsibility as the combined Director of the Directorate of Academic Planning & Research, Development, and Innovation (DAP & RDI), the position he held until his election by the Academic Board in accordance with the Polytechnic Acts as the first substantive Deputy Rector. The appointment was subsequently approved by the Honorable Minister of Education effective from 10th September 2023.

1. To assist the Rector in the performance of his/her functions2. To act in the place of the Rector when the Rector is absent or unable to perform his/her functions as Rector
3. To perform other functions as the Rector or the Council may assign to the Deputy Rector from time to time.
