PROFILE OF DAVID OBAFEMI OYEYIPO

David Oyeyipo attended King’s College, Lagos from 1974 to 1979. He obtained a B. A Honor’s in Education and English in Second Class Upper Division in 1985 from the University of Ilorin. He did his National Youth Service Corps in Iwo, (Old Oyo State) in 1985/86. He further obtained an M.A in Language Arts from the University of Ibadan, Ibadan in 1991.

 He worked as an Air Traffic Control Assistant III with the Federal Ministry of Aviation between 1980 and 1981. He also worked with the Kwara State Education Management Board as Master II later to rise to Master I between 1986 and 1991. He was an Advertising Copy Writer with Grant Advertising Limited, Ikeja from 1991 to 1993 but moved to Greentones Advertising Limited, also at Ikeja where he worked in similar capacity until 1994. He then went into Private practice as Executive Director, Obafemi Oyeyipo Ventures, Lagos. He went out of Private business to become a Teacher and Principal of Model Secondary School, Akure from 1999 to 2001. He was to work for six months as founding Executive Secretary of Ademola  Adegoroye Foundation in Akure up till December 2001. He was a Lecturer under the Ondo State IJMB Tutorial Education in 2002. He joined the services of the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 2003.

 In the University, David Oyeyipo rose through the ranks from Administrative Officer II to Senior Assistant Registrar. He served with distinction in various capacities in the Office of the Registrar, Office of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic), Council Affairs Division, Step-B Project and Accreditation Unit and as Senate Officer and Senate Matters Officer. He received letters of Commendation for his outstanding performance on many occasions. He served as the Secretary of the Steering Committee, International Conference on Science and Technology (FUTA 2006) which had the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Kumasi, Ghana as Co-sponsor and Collaborator. He was also the Secretary of the University Institutional Accreditation Committee in 2011 and served the University Accreditation Committee until 2015. He was the Coordinator of the Media Centre of the West Africa University Games – Tennis Athletics and Table Tennis (WAUG – TATT) in 2010. He also served the Committee that hosted the Conference of Committee of Vice-Chancellors of Nigeria Universities hosted by FUTA in 2012. David Oyeyipo served in several other Committees of the University. He was Staff Adviser to the FUTA Chapter of the King’s College Old Boys’ Association. At the Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, where he was appointed a Principal Assistant Registrar in October 2015, he doubled as the Public Relations Officer until September, 2017. He helped establish the structure and processes in the Registry as well as setup the Public Relations Unit of the Polytechnic. He served as a member of various Committees, including the Polytechnic Endowment Fund, Academic Board, Founders Day, Matriculation, Convocation, TETFund Grants Committee etc. He also served the Meeting of Principal Officers and the Polytechnic Governing Council and its Committees. He received many letters of commendation for outstanding performance in those capacities. He is a published poet as well as Editor and Contributor to Books.

David Oyeyipo is an ordained Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Pastor, Jesus Christ Rapture Ministries. He had served previously in the Redeemed Christian Church of God, (Liveliest People Model Parish, King’s Sanctuary, City of David Parish and Light Sanctuary) as well as God First Apostolic Church. He also pastored the Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji Fellowship. He had been the Secretary, Igbomina Youth Movement from 1988 to 1989 and Secretary, Offa Grammar School Staff Multipurpose Cooperative Society between 1988 and 1990. He was the Secretary of the Ondo State Branch of the King’s College Old Boys’ Association between 2013 and 2015.

David Oyeyipo is a Fellow of the Institute of Policy Management Development, Member American Society of Administrative Professionals, Member, Association of Nigerian University Professional Administrators, Diamond Member, Song Writers’ Guild of America and King’s College Old Boy.

He was accorded the African International Achiever’s Award in 2018 and African Education Legend Award in 2019.
