ENGR. AYOOLA AKINWUNMI
Engr. Ayoola Akinwunmi is the current acting Head of the Department of Civil Engineering Technology. He holds a Master of Science degree of the University of Lagos, Akoka, Lagos, Nigeria (1993) in Civil Engineering with specialty in Water Resources and Environmental Engineering. He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering from the University of Lagos (1990). Ayoola Akinwunmi is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM) and a member of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA). Engr. Akinwunmi joined Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji, Ondo State in 2017 and was appointed as the pioneer Head of Works and Services in October of the same year. He subsequently converted to the Academic cadre in November 2020 as a Lecturer in Civil Engineering Technology; a role he combined with that of the Head, Works and Services for seven months thereafter. Akinwunmi was appointed as Acting Head of the Department in October 2022 for a period of one year, during which NBTE gave full accreditation for the ND programme in Civil Engineering Technology. His appointment was renewed in October 2023 having served meritoriously. He has also served in various committees of the Polytechnic. He has been carrying out his teaching duties with high sense of dedication and commitment. Prior to joining Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji, he spent over twenty four years in several banking and educational institutions where he garnered a lot of experience in Facilities Management, Project Management, Building Maintenance, Procurement, Logistics, Budgeting, Administration, Information Technology and many others. In the course of his career between 2014 and 2015, he was seconded to one of his company’s subsidiaries in Angola as a Project Advisor and thereafter to Tanzania to stabilize their Business Services function during which he optimized their operations, resulting in monetary savings for the affiliate. Engr. Akinwunmi has many academic papers published in both National and International Journals to his credit and has also presented papers in Local Conferences. His current research interests include the use of polyethylene (plastics) and polyamides (nylons) in the production of paving stones. He has supervised over ten National Diploma (ND) students projects.
