Rector’s Charge 27/11/2023
I attended a CISCO sponsored workshop with the Registrar last week which was co-sponsored by NBTE. The workshop was used to acquaint heads of TVET institutions with necessary skills and to also promote our proficiency in the use of ICT, and ICT Skills which expectedly should create a broader access to quality education and entrepreneurship, as well as an entrepreneurial minded graduates of Polytechnics.
The aim of the workshop was for producing graduates with required skill set necessary for the world of works, and through CISCO deliver market-relevant curricula and by also supporting TVETs all over the country with curriculum alignment towards the Fifth Industrial Revolution (5IR), and through global industry certification. While I am aware of past efforts by the Polytechnic to tap into these opportunities through the signing of stand-alone (MoU) with CISCO, going forward our engagement with CISCO will be predicated on the already established (MoU) while harnessing the benefits of the NBTE’s (MoU) with CISCO, to breach the gap in lecturer’s delivery capacity with the aim of tapping into global industry certification with CISCO Systems.
CESAC commences examination for part-time students of that centre from today and it is to be expected that processes necessary to conclude a successful examination, are on ground and that only fully registered student will be able to access the examination. It is also important to point out that facilitators of each course should also mark the scripts of the students early enough and submit same to Programme Coordinators for transmission to Academic Board through Ag. Director, CESAC who represents the Centre’s Board of Study in the Academic Board.
The moderation of questions by external moderators should not be jettisoned, while care must be taken to ensure this is done with fail.
I was a honoured guest at the 35th Convocation ceremony of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH) and the colourful ceremony only served as a reminder to our forthcoming convocation ceremony, where we will be privileged to graduate our freshmen class of Higher National Diploma holders. It is therefore expedient for me to congratulate all staff for the great milestone and pray that we will have many more of such ceremonies in the coming years.
Do have a pleasant week ahead.
Thank you,
