Rector’s Charge 15/04/2024
I can announce that the necessary documents for TETFUND special intervention fund released by Mr. President for building of hostels across selected institutions have been received and work is expected to begin as soon as all necessary due process/diligence formalities are carried out.
The aim of the special intervention fund is to create an enabling environment for students, which will in turn allow the Polytechnic curate an enriching campus experience that is expected to serve as a pedestal for student to student engagements and allow the Polytechnic campus to assume its proper identity as a full service institution with the necessary student residency component.
The Examination Committee, led by Mr. M. Ganiyu, will be hosting a sensitization programme for staff and students this week, the programme for the staff will hold on Wednesday 17th April, 2024 at 11:00 a. m., all teaching staff must be present at this programme except where such teaching staff have received proper exemption
from the Office of the Registrar or Deans of Schools through their Heads of Departments.
The above has become most important so there exist no ambiguity in the importance Management attaches to this all important preparation towards a successful semester examination.
Can I also stress, that the work of each teaching staff is not finished, until the results for each course examined is process to the Board of Studies for each Department, then to the Board of Studies of respective Schools and is then transmitted to the Academic Board for approval.
My point here is that we should not rest on our oars until the results are approved by Academic Board which is the final arbiter of all academic activities in the Polytechnic.
While there are bound to be challenges which will be thrown up once the examination commences, please rest assured that Management will resolve these challenges as quickly as possible. However, Management frowns at staff inserting themselves into the examination process for recalcitrant students who will wait until the last minute before crying wolf over their inability to properly register for the exams through faults that is entirely down to their making. Staff are hereby advised to refrain from this unwholesome behaviour.
Please have a pleasant and productive week.
Thank you.
Signed
