Rector’s Charge 18/03/2024
We come into this new week off the back of a very successful outing, for us as a community the past week showed our commitment to excellence when the occasion demands it, the week commenced with the successful orientation ceremony organized by the Institute of Continuing Education for its students.
Following that, the Polytechnic hosted our Pioneer Rector, Prof. E. A. Fasakin to a resplendent send forth ceremony, which included the final of the 2nd Fasakin football competition and the very spruce ceremony which had in attendance our Revered Jegun-Olu-Ekun, Oba (Dr.) J. O. Adetimehin and Jegun-in-Council, families and friends of the celebrant. Management expresses our gratitude to Kabiyesi and Jegun-in-Council for the honour done our pioneer Rector and the Polytechnic.
The Encomiums that Prof. Fasakin received were testament to the commitment and dedication with which he undertook his assignment in birthing this great institution. I, on behalf of Management place on record the Polytechnic’s gratitude to all staff and students who helped to add colour to the event, special mention is reserved for members of the Committee saddled with organizing the ceremony for their efforts which is appreciated.
The matriculation ceremony for freshmen class [National Diploma and Higher National Diploma] of 2023/2024 academic session was the climax of a successful week and signposts the end of admission formalities for the current session. The matriculating students were formally welcome to our community of academics, by that ceremony they have become bonafide members of the Polytechnic.
I will also want to use this occasion to commend the group known as “Women in Technical Education” [WITED] who were part of the orientation programme for the students of Institute of Continuing Education and also showed up during the matriculation ceremony, they spoke on the need for female student to see themselves taking up programmes in STEM and that they should not limit their reach to social/Managerial programmes only, as an advocacy group for female staff and students in technical education, their role cannot be over-emphasized and it is hoped that the group will continued its advocacy for the benefit of all female staff and students.
As I close this charge, I want each staff to commit to the highest ideals for which Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji has become synonymous, do have a pleasant and productive week.
Thank you.
Signed
Dr. Ademola I. Ebeloku
Rector,
Federal Polytechnic, Ile-Oluji
