Rector’s Charge 25/03/2024
Staff of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) formerly NHIS were around last week to capture the details of new members of staff and those old staff who were yet to have their records with the authority. the data captured will afford these staff the opportunity to enjoy subsidized health care coverage, a major advantage of the scheme provides.
Also in past week, our amiable Registrar, Mr. G. A. Awe convened and sponsored a scrabble competition for students of the Polytechnic and it was an eye opener that showcased the rich talent available among our students, the competition also served as a dress rehearsal for the coming Nigerian Polytechnic Games (NIPOGA) and I hope that our students will use this competition as a spring board to medal performance at the games. I must not fail to commend the Registrar for the handsome cash award that he handed out during the challenge, it served as an icing on the cake for the students.
I must equally commend him further, for his pledge to also sponsor the staff challenge to commemorate his birthday celebration, on behalf of students and staff please accept my deep appreciation for your efforts at engendering and stimulating healthy sport competition in the Polytechnic.
The Christian fast has commenced and as we approach the end of the Lenten fast I want to commit brethren engaging in this spiritually tasking exercise to the hands of the Lord to strengthen them to finish the fast strong and well, as well pray for refreshing Easter festivities. Of equal mention is the Ramadan fast by the Ummah, I also pray that all mighty Allah will receive the supplications and prayers offered up during the month of Ramadan.
As a community, that has adherents of both faith I must commend the harmony, the sincere regards for each other’s faith and further counsel that we not allow those fringe elements who seek to sow discord among us to ever infiltrate our peaceful and serene community with their hate and destabilizing rhetoric’s and to always seek the good of our community.
Please have a pleasant and productive week.
Thank you.
Signed
Dr. Ademola I. Ebeloku fcia
