PROFILE, HOD FISHERIES TECHNOLOGY
Olanipekun Olamide Samuel hails from Ondo town in Ondo State and was born into the family of Mr and Mrs Olanipekun Kayode. He is the second child in a family of nine. He attended Local Authority Primary School II between 1983 – 1988. He attended C.A.C Adu Memorial High School between 1989 – 1994 where he obtained SSCE Certificate.
His choice of Fisheries and Wildlife at the Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA) was informed by his early exposure to Fisheries and Aquaculture by someone he considers a distant brother. He obtained a bachelor of agricultural technology degree ( B(Agric) Tech) from FUTA in 2001 and proceeded for the compulsory National Youth Service programme in Katsina State the same year where he served as the Corpers Liason Officer.
In 2003, he became the manager of the NEXT LEVEL TECHNOLOGIES a company that was the foremost Internet Service Provider (ISP) in Ondo State. He however proceeded to the University of Ibadan (UI) where he obtained Master of Science degree (MSc) in Fisheries Management in 2006.
In 2006, he joined Alliance for Community Transformation (ACT) a nongovernmental organisation working on youth sustainable fish farming sponsored by the World Bank, Chevron, Shell, USAID and Globacom. He was a centre manager with ACT before being promoted into the position of a senior manager. He was later hired by the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency where he supervised enormous Aquaculture, Poultry and Helicuture Projects. He worked across several communities and local governments in Rivers State.
Olanipekun, is a private consultant on aquaculture and agribusiness development and networking. He is a member of the Fisheries Society of Nigeria (FISON)
He is a lecturer at the federal Polytechnic Ileoluji in the department of Fisheries Technology and has scholarly Journals and Papers to his credit.
