PROFILE, HOD ARCHITECTURAL TECHNOLOGY

A rc. Fagbemi Kayode is the Coordinator of Architectural Technology Department in the Federal Polytechnic Ile-Oluji. He is a Chartered Architect, registered withthe Architects registration council of Nigeria (ARCON). He is also a member of the Nigeria Institute of Architects (NIA). He obtained a Master of Technology Degree (M.Tech) in Architecture in 2012 and a Bachelor of Technology Degree (B.Tech) in Architecture in 2010 from The Federal University of Technology Akure. He also obtained Executive Masters Certificate in Project Management in 2013. In 2012, He attended a Training course in Architecture and Conservation in the Lincoln School of Architecture, University of Lincoln, Brayford pool Lincoln, United Kingdom where he received Award for the best work in the school of Architecture training in Conservation and Sustainability (2012 – 2013). He had earlier worked in the firms of TNA Associates Gbagada Lagos as an intern architect and assistant project manager in 2009. He has also worked with IGIT Architects / Webster Constructions International in Asaba Delta State in 2013. In 2014 he joined Golden Pyramid Solutions Ltd a oil servicing firm based in Ghana where he worked as an architect in the local content development arm of Alpha Refinery project in Ghana. He later joined the firm of Y-EL Associates were he practiced architecture before joining the service of Federal Polytechnic ile-oluji in 2017. He has been actively involved in the implementation of Physical developmental projects and construction activities of the Polytechnic as an architect in the Directorate of Physical Planning of the Institution. Arc. Fagbemi became the Pioneer Coordinator, Architectural Technology Department at the Polytechnic in 2018 during this time he led the creation of the New department of Architecture in the Federal Polytechnic Ile-oluji subsequently securing NBTE interim Accreditation and approval for the commencement of ND Architecture programme in 2019. He has a number of local and international publications in scholarly journals, conference proceedings and books. He has authored over sixteen (16) research papers on debates that surround theories of social sustainability, urban space/ecology, and the emerging trends in the contemporary modern architecture. He has also attended over twelve (12) local and international conferences in the past eight years spanning many countries of the world that include, United States of America, United Kingdom, Ghana and Nigeria. Arc. Fagbemi’s education, practice and interest is indicative of his interest in the crafting of the built environment through the integration of education, practice and technology. He is highly privileged to be a child of God. He serves as the Music Director in the Federal University of Technology, Akure, Chapel of Faith. He is happily married and blessed with Children.
